Environmental Policy
Having benefited from the limited resources of Planet Earth, we have a social obligation to conserve the environment by reducing any negative impact on it throughout the entire process of our operations. We believe that environmental conservation is one of the key issues that increases our corporate value. It was with this idea in mind that SK-Electronics established the Environmental Philosophy and Environmental Policy in accordance with the fundamental principle of “Creation & Harmony,” making dedicated efforts towards the realization of an environmentally-conscious society.

We will always cherish nature’s blessings and strive to improve the environment through our conduct, in order to achieve harmony between our business undertakings and the Planet Earth.
Environmental Policy
- We will conserve resources and energy to prevent global warming.
- We will prevent pollution and contribute toward the creation of a recycling society (practicing the 3 Rs).
- We will provide environmental training.
- We will promote philanthropic activities.
- We will comply with environment-related laws, regulations, and treaties.

Organizational setup
At SK-Electronics, environmental conservation assumes the utmost importance. With the president taking ultimate responsibility, an Environment Committee draws up environmental policies and programs, which are then put into practice by an Environment Task Force. This system was put in place upon our foundation in 2001 in order to address global environmental issues.
Programs
The Three-Year Environmental Action Plan
- 1st Phase (October 2001 - September 2004)
- Self-set targets for CO2 (per unit of sales*) and waste reduction were successfully met.
*Energy consumption/sales - 2nd Phase (October 2004 - September 2007)
- We will continue reducing CO2 emissions and waste, while lessening water, electric power, and fuel consumption and emissions.
- 3rd Phase (September 2008 - September 2010)
- Environmental goals include reducing office supply and PPC paper purchases, reducing used paper and cardboard waste, improving the ratio of green purchases, and improving yield ratios.
What We Do
Conserving electricity and paper
- "Paperless" meetings using projectors
- Introducing "Cool Biz" energy-saving campaign during summer
"Green" purchasing practice
- Purchasing office supplies with the "Green" label (Eco Mark-certified products , etc.)
Recycling
- Separate collection of recyclable garbage
- Collection and recycling of used paper and shredded dossiers
Initiatives at the Kyoto Plant
- Building plants with energy-saving materials
- Installing photovoltaic power generation systems
ISO 14001 Certification
As part of our drive to improve the global environment, we were certified to the ISO 14001 environmental standard in September 2002.
Philanthropic Activities
As one of the many activities in this regard, we perform regular cleanups in the areas surrounding the Headquarters and Kyoto Plant. We will continue to be actively involved in a wide range of environmental activities.
Environmental Training
Based upon the belief that environmental conservation is a part of the essential duties of our employees, we consider it important to increase the environmental awareness of each and every employee. Our employees are encouraged to take every opportunity to participate in a variety of programs laid out in the Three-Year Environment Action Plan as well as environmental seminars held both inside and outside of the company.
