Shiga Plant: Six Underlying Concepts

1. The Only 10th and 11th Generation Plant in the Industry

The Shiga Plant will be the first and only plant in the industry capable of manufacturing 10th and 11th generation ultra-large-format photomasks.

2. Maximum Level Clean Environment

All of the ceilings inside the facility are equipped with filters to increase clean levels. In addition, all floors use a steel grid grating to maintain the cleanest environment in the industry. The plant uses a fully automated transport system to ensure airtight integrity and safety during transportation.

3. Concern for the Global Environment

All movement within the plant is electric, eliminating the use of fossil fuel energy such as gas and kerosene.
Further, all packaging materials and cases are reused, further demonstrating the Company’s commitment to environmentally sound practices.

4. Improved Efficiency

Ancillary facilities have been consolidated and the manufacturing equipment layout has been improved to create better efficiencies.

5. High Quality, High Precision, Shortened Delivery Times

The adoption of state-of-the-art equipment and process technologies puts the Shiga Plant at the forefront of the industry, offering high-quality, high-precision manufacturing with shortened delivery times.

6. Ease of Access

Situated in a location easily accessed by expressways and airports, the new plant will facilitate the smooth transportation of manufactured products to customer facilities. This ideal location will shorten delivery times.

What is manufactured at the Shiga Plant?

The Shiga Plant is capable of mass-producing ultra-large-format photomasks for 10th generation and higher LCD panels. The plant is capable of producing ultra-large-format photomasks with the same high quality and high precision as that of 8th generation photomasks.

Currently, several LCD panel manufacturers are aggressively moving into next-generation products. Given these circumstances, SK-Electronics plans to maximize the benefits of leading the industry in next-generation photomask production to provide a stable supply to these forward-thinking companies.
