Selecting the Optimum Materials, Including Synthetic Fused Quartz
Glass is generally used as a photomask substrate because it undergoes little change when exposed to chemicals and therefore provides stable quality.
Among these, SK-Electronics uses synthetic fused quartz as the highest-quality photomask material.
With its low coefficient of thermal expansion, it offers excellent dimensional accuracy. It also provides excellent transmittance—over 95%—for short-wavelength light used in exposure, enabling fine patterns to be reproduced in a short time.

LCDs—one of the leading thin-display technologies—have now entered the tenth generation. SK-Electronics was the first in the industry to establish a mass-production system capable of manufacturing photomasks for Generation 10 and above.
At the same time, we also support small- and mid-sized flat-panel displays used in smartphones, wearable devices, and other applications. From large panels to small and mid-sized panels, we provide photomasks in a wide range of sizes.
What Does “Generation” Mean?
In the flat-panel display industry, “generation” is a term that refers to the size of a glass substrate. The higher the generation number, the larger the substrate size.
Accordingly, the photomask used as the master plate to transfer patterns onto the substrate must also be made in a correspondingly larger size.
