What is a NFC tag reader?

NFC tag readers comply with the NFC, Near Field Communication, standard and communicate wirelessly with contactless IC cards.

Another use of the reader in the home or in the private is to control home appliances with “NFC tags” via smartphones, which is secretly booming these days.
(Requires Android or iPhone with the NFC tag reader and dedicated applications.)

For example, a smartphone holder with a tag to control a navigation system set in a car, when the phone is placed on the holder, it automatically turns the navigation system on. For Internet-connected IoT home appliances, an NFC tag at the front door can be turned on/off by holding the phone up to the tag. Also by registering daily routines on the tag, specified actions can be taken instantly, which is an attractive feature of the NFC tag.
